Since 1995, volunteers have helped clean the area's water ways at the Annual Basura Bash Waterways Cleanup. The event is 100% powered by volunteers.

The 2022 Basura Bash was a big success! 1,823 volunteers pitched in to clean 20 tributaries across San Antonio.
