Texas Recycles Day
Recycling can vary by region, and throwing the wrong things in your recycling can cause issues.
While Texas Recycles Day is celebrated each year on November 15th, you can use our Texas Recycles Day outreach calendar to recycle right all year long.
Contamination is still the #1 barrier to recycling programs in Texas. By harmonizing and standardizing outreach across the state, we can make a big impact on recycling in Texas.
What is TexasRecyclesDay.org?
A statewide campaign for recycling outreach celebrated each November 15th (launched in November 2021), and scheduled around how Texans live, work, and recycle regularly.
How Does Contamination Hurt Recycling?
Items like clothing, shoes, and broken toys slow the whole process down. Items like hoses, cords, batteries, and propane tanks, can actually damage machinery or start a fire. Food waste and liquids can ruin the value of recyclables like paper, cardboard and metals.
How to Help Keep Our Resources Valuable?
Check the signs every time, make sure you know what you can throw in the recycling bin before you throw it, and keep all recycling empty, clean, and dry.
